1997-2003 E46 series street cars
This is considered a first generation CAN vehicle where the CAN wires do not go into the OBDii port, rather that connector has only K-line on it. You will have to splice onto the bus directly at or between the computers which talk on it. Those would include the ABS, steering sensor, instrument cluster, ECU, transmission controller and possibly the headlight control unit should all be on the same CAN bus. You may find the twisted pair colors as Yellow/Red for CAN+ and Yellow/Brown for CAN-, or Yellow/Black for CAN+ and Yellow/Brown for CAN-
- On the instrument cluster pin 9 is CAN+ and pin 10 is CAN-
- On the ECU pin 36 is CAN+ and pin 37 is CAN-

This list is what I have confirmed. There should be plenty more channels but I’ve yet to sit down with a car and reverse engineer more.
